Brand Names

McDonalds, ESPN, Apple and Nike share rare company. They’re some of the worlds biggest companies and have some of the most recognizable logos on the planet. Let’s throw WU-Tang in there for good measure.

WIth its overt Asian influence; Wu-Tang the movement, group and LOGO easily is a ‘brand’ in its own right. With support and fans spanning the globe from America to China and everywhere in between, the Wu-Tang Clan has to be one of the most influential groups in Hip-Hop.

But at that time Wu-Tang’s message and music struck a chord in four individuals in an unlikely place. Welcome to Long Beach and Compton.

Crisis The Sharpshooter, The Rugged Monk, Holocaust A.K.A Warcloud, and Doc Doom (R.I.P) make up the Black Knights. The group mainly linked up in 1995 as young teenagers coming primarily from Long Beach and Compton and then teaming up creatively with legendary Wu-Producer and artist RZA in 1997.

With a sound that is West-Coast dominant and East-Coast influenced the Black Knights are a perfect blend of content and delivery. This penchant for smooth West Coast delivery melded with that NY Grime era of the 90′s was a perfect mesh.

The Black Knights boast 3 national tours and extensive key appearances on 3 Platinum and Gold selling albums including Wu-Tang Killa Bees Swarm and Bobby Digital.Their album “Every Knight Is A Black Knight” was self-funded and went on to sell more than 10,000 without distribution or mainstream promotion.
