Just listened to Gina’s review / analysis of Oz and wanted to say good on ya!  I am a big fan of the show which is probably not a good reflection of me.  That show is immensely interesting.  You never know what will happen next and you won’t believe it when it does.

When I moved to LA, I started to intern for a writer.  I wanted some experience and they wanted an intern.  Turns out, the writer was the creator of Dexter.  This was early ’07 so it wasn’t a huge thing like it is now.  So I was interning for this working writer who has written some amazing things. He wrote the College episode of The Sopranos (!) and was a consultant for The Shield which is also an intense show and worth checking out.  He was writing some new things as well and decided to have a staged reading.  Since I was the intern, I was also the courier for the scripts.  I got to meet a ton of Oz / Dexter actors.  It was kind of a big deal for me.  Also he was dating Lauren Velez, LaGuardia of Dexter and Dr. Nathan of Oz.  When I met her for the first time, all I could say was “Hello you were in Oz…” while I shook her hand.  I should also note that everyone was really nice.
Disjointed, I know.  But Oz is a great show.  A couple of non spoiler highlights coming up if they haven’t already; Leon from Cool Runnings as a Death Row inmate in the first season, Rick Fox acting surprisingly well as an inmate, Christopher Meloni (from Wet Hot and SVU), Ernie Hudson (from Ghostbusters!!), Rita Moreno (from West Side Story) also, a love story between two inmates, oh, and the tutor from Mighty Ducks 2 on Death Row.
Good show.
