What I did for Love.

Hello G, R & E,

Sorry this email is late - I have been out of town. While on vacation I heard the PGP question: “What did you do for love?” Well, I will tell you my story if you can say my name is anonymous as it is very embarrassing.

I was 18 years old and while in a shopping center I saw this amazingly hot soldier in a Marine uniform – I had to follow him. Flash forward he was a recruiting officer and I signed up for the US Marines that day! Me: spoiled, super lazy, and 50 lbs overweight at the time. I was able to have a three month ship-out date so I went to his office almost every day to visit him, while speaking with him he said that his favorite thing was strawberry shortcake… needless to say I baked strawberry shortcake once a week and brought it in to him (and all of his Marine buddies in the office).

After 6 weeks of this, I found out he was married, I stopped going to the recruiting office, and moved on with my life and forgot all about it. A few weeks later I got a call from the US Government giving me my time to “ship out” I told them that I changed my mind, the man on the phone laughingly said… you can’t just change your mind, you signed a contract with the US Government you will be leaving. With my tail between my legs, I had to go downtown Los Angeles and speak to a military committee requesting that I rescind my contract. Thank goodness they did and I did not have to go.

Anyway that’s my story – hear you later.

PGP #675 - Three Years Later

I’m a couple podcasts behind so forgive me for the late message. Has it really been 3 years? Out of all the people to thank, I’m probably going to have to thank Tim Conway Jr., haha. Without Tim and his various shows, I wouldn’t have the PGP to listen to every week. Seriously, you 2 have come from being supporting characters in Tim’s crazy show to my al time favorite podcast. Sure, Randy annoys me from time to time with his speak before you think attitude, but his innocent heart always brings me back. Gina, you had me from hello. Your talent and charm ooze through the microphone and into my headphones. Your zingers and made me laugh out loud (for real) at work so many times, people thing I’m a nut. Your sincerity makes you all the more endearing. I can’t forget Elijah. I have to admit, I didn’t think you would stick around. Not because I thought you were a flake, I just didn’t know how long you’d be able to stick it out with Gina and Randy without the pay. I’m very glad you have and your addition has made the show that much better.

Thanks for the 3 years and here’s to many more!

Walt

Happy 3rd Anniversary

Hey G, R and E!

Happy third anniversary for the, oh nothing, the best podcast in the
i-sphere! You were my first podcast and my favorite.

You can blame Eliot Chang for my hitching on to your shirt-tales. I
did an iTunes search for Eliot and found your podcast where he
guest-hosted. After listening to it I was HOOKED! You have been a very
happy part of my life ever since (I’ve been listening for a year and a
half).

Randy, I love your rants. Gina, I love your laugh. Elijah, I love how
stoic you are on the air. You’re the counter balance, a balance of
reason, to Randy and Gina.

Love ya, mean it!
Jim

PGP new food (not juice)

February 13, 2009: a day that will live in infamy.

The original Umami Burger opened, and our city was never the same.

Also, He’s Just Not That Into You was the No. 2 movie in America.

But let’s focus on Umami. Because now they have a hot dog.

Yes, it’s real: introducing The Umami Dog, the burger institution’s first foray into the kind of meat that requires a more oval-y bun, launching today.

To be among the first to sample this thing, you’ll have to rally some friends for a road trip out to the new Thousand Oaks location, the only place it’s available for now. But that’s just a quiet kickoff before it rolls out elsewhere. Sort of like the preview screening of He’s Just Not That… actually, never mind. Moving on.

Anyway, the hot dog: it’s not sprinkled with gold dust or ground unicorn horn or anything. Just an Akaushi Kobe beef dog topped with housemade relish, mustard, caramelized onions and cilantro. And that strangely glorious Umami-ness you’ve never experienced in a hot dog before.

Officially.

3 Years

Hello G, R and E, I am not really sure where to start so here goes. The past 3 years have been a roller-coaster of emotions. 3 years ago April my mom went down. I would have never imagined that I would loose someone that meant the world to me at such a young age (I was 24) you have to do a lot of soul searching when something like this happens. So I made a plan for the future, by age 30 I want to be in a career I enjoy so I’m able to spend more time with my little girl who is 5 years old her name is Christina Angel Roberts (picture included). The goal I guess for the next 3 years would be to wake up every morning and be thankful for what I have and cherish the time I get to spend with good friends and family. After seeing my mother go down at such a young age (she was 44) I also plan on loosing more weight. After hearing Randy talk about juicing I started a program I have been juicing for 2 weeks now replacing 2 meals a day with juice I’m proud to say I’ve dropped 16 pounds! So to finish this up I would like to say thank you to Randy and Tim Jones (I think he got me pregnant at the dodger game) for literally saving my life because if I was to keep going like I was going I doubt I would be here in 3 years. SO thanks again studs and Gina, if being cool was illegal you’d be under arrest! Till next time stay thirsty my friends.

Sincerely,
Chris
