Australian food

I went to Australia a few years ago and they do have some odd tastes. I don’t think I went to McDonalds so these are based on regular restaurants.
Burgers have beets instead of tomatoes. I didn’t like beets, and when I took it off there was still a bunch of purple beet juice that had leaked onto the rest of the burger. So after a couple attempts I stopped ordering burgers.
Sandwiches are more like what we might call a deluxe salad on top of a piece of bread. You can’t even see the bread at first because it’s buried under all the fixin’s, so if you’re not prepared you might think you got the wrong order.
Also “lemonade” is like off-brand Sprite. I think they do have American-style lemonade, but I forget what they called it.
As a bonus, I actually had an experience similar to a scene from the Simpsons episode where they went to Australia. Do you remember when Marge was trying to order water and the bartender kept hearing beer? I went to a bar and tried to order a Long Island iced tea, and the bartender had no idea what that was. I’m not sure what’s in it myself, because every bar has their own recipe. So I tried ordering a margarita, but he didn’t know that either. Since I make mine with margarita mix, I didn’t know what’s in that either. So I ordered one thing that I actually do know how to make, a screwdriver. But I played it safe and called it vodka and orange juice.
Speaking of the Simpsons episode, every toilet I encountered had a super powerful flush that went straight down in less than a second, you couldn’t even tell which way it was spiralling.
